Sometime back, Mani Ratnam invited his friend P Chidambaram over for a special screening of his latest film Raavanan. Owing to his extremely busy schedule which involves delivering lengthy speeches about how various issues will be resolved, occasionally heading back to his lair to discuss all possible courses of action and then choosing the one which is least likely to affect him in any possible way while at the same time inconveniencing hundreds of thousands of people who will somehow still perceive him as a hero, PC does not usually get to watch any films, neither Hindi nor Tamil.
So when said invite arrived, he gladly accepted it, little knowing that in it contained a clue, the clue being the scene where "Ram" tricks the messenger of "Raavan" who had come there to broker peace after having been assured of a safe passage and kills him. This vital scene of the film gave our dear PC an idea - and what happened next, we all know. Azad, one of his many enemies, was eliminated in a fake encounter, a fact which Outlook magazine tried to raise but sane voices of reason were subdued by those with vested interest no sooner than they were raised. And, well, as is always the case, the earth did not grind to a halt.
your post made me google for azad fake encounter...
