Muddle in my head

Which concept should I finally settle upon?
Should I dabble with that element of fantasy I have in mind?
Will it help to keep the protagonist match my own personality?
Should I just let it develop episodically?
How much should I let verbosity interfere with the crux of the story?
Is it wise to experiment with the narration?

A combination of the above and some other questions is taunting me.
Trying to write fiction for the first time in over a decade is not easy.

For the record, I was contemplating writing a novel when something called NovelRace happened, first on Twitter (search for it using the hash-tag) and then on Facebook. More here.

1 vishesh tippaniya:

  1. Try to come up with something original. Having the protagonist match your own personality would be easy but that may not fit the broad theme of your novel at times. Try to invent a character who fits the broad theme of your novel.

Yeah, fiction writing wouldn't be easy. Try reading a lot of fiction (try and read authors having varied tastes - don't stick to one) & you might get a lot of ideas on how to build your characters and the plot :)
